Century Orchards consists of 700 ha of Almonds and 100 ha of Pistachios. We are located just outside of the Riverland town of Loxton on the Murray River, in the Riverland of South Australia.

Our almonds are hulled and shelled at Riverland Almonds Hulling. They are then processed at Riverland Almonds and Nut Producers Australia of which, Century Orchards is a proud member and shareholder.
The Position
Century is looking to appoint a Technical Officer (TO).
Duties will include but are not limited to:
- Collection and interpretation of soil moisture levels and evaporation.
- Monitoring of mite, insect, and disease levels.
- Orchard monitoring and record keeping e.g. drainage, irrigation stress levels, fertiliser and irrigation efficiency, kernel moisture, frost/chill monitoring.
- General data entry and record keeping e.g. chemical records, weather station data, etc.
- Designing and implementing field trials to assess new production or harvesting techniques that may be introduced to improve profitability.
- Prepare and write an Annual “Technical Officer's Report” covering the growing season and trial results and make written recommendation to update and improve orchard programs.
- Soil, leaf, hull and kernel monitoring and interpretation.
- Drip and sprinkler maintenance programs.
- Implementation of irrigation, fertigation, and tree spray programs.
- Managing administration for government-based incentive programs including the production of applications, managing quotes and invoices, producing milestone reports and facilitating the auditing process.
The Person
We are keen to hear from you if you possess the following experience, key skills, and attributes:
- Tertiary qualification in Agricultural Science (or equivalent).
- Ability to work effectively and efficiently, individually and in a team environment.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively with people at all levels.
- Well-developed organisational skills and ability to meet deadlines.
- Proficient skills within all Microsoft Applications.
- A commitment to continuous improvement.
- High attention to detail.
- Strong focus on WH&S.
- The TO will have the necessary experience, education, and training to complete the tasks involved and to implement the best sustainable production technology available.
- Take direction from the CEO, Technical Manager and Century Orchards Horticultural Committee.
