GPI Australia is the Australian division of Great Plains Industries, a US based manufacturer of flow meter and fuel pumping products for the global process automation industry, reaching across multiple industrial and commercial sectors. Operating from the Sutherland Shire, GPI Australia manufactures and assembles Australian designed product as well as importing and distributing a range of American made products into the Australian and global markets.
About the Role
Reporting to the Manufacturing Manager, the person will be responsible for the operation and maintenance of a Okuma LB3000 lathe and Okuma MB4000H, as well as supporting equipment including pre-setter, CMM and loading/unloading robot. This is a new machining setup allowing the candidate to help shape the machining operations of the company.
The responsibilities of the role include, but are not limited to:
- Setting of tools and fixtures for machining jobs
- Loading and unloading of automated robots and pallet pool
- First off inspections with CMM
- Providing feedback to engineering team on manufacturability of new designs
- Working with the quality team to address non-conformances
- Maintenance of machinery and coordinating with external technicians

About You
- 5+ years experience on CNC lathes and horizontal machining centres (experience with Okuma machines is advantageous)
- Ability to read engineering drawings
- Experience with Coordinate Measuring Machines
- Experience with hand measuring tools and inspection equipment
- Experience with CAM software
- Self-Motivated with a willingness to listen and learn
- Ready to maintain accountability for assigned jobs
- Possess a flexible, cooperative team attitude & a strong work ethic
- Willingness & ability to work as part of a team
- Keen attention to detail
