The role of Machinist / Mechanical Fitter at WES is interesting and always changing as we work on a diverse range of mechanical equipment. There is opportunity to work onsite and at local customers workshops carrying out in-situ machining and mechanical fitting.

- Plan and setup machines.
- Carry out machining of components as per work pack detail, drawings and client's requirements.
- Select required tooling, feeds and speeds for efficient machining of jobs.
- Liaise with Machining Foreman in regard to machining processes, machine setups, toolpaths, material properties, current and new tooling.
- Standardise and share own processes to drive personal efficiency and productivity with every opportunity.
- Maintain a positive work culture in line with our company values.
- Ensure compliance with all record keeping requirements and complete reports accordingly.
- Maintain a clean safe working environment for all workers & visitors at all times, this includes identifying & reporting any hazards and safety issues via the reporting process.
Skills and experience
- Relevant trade qualifications
- Experience in Fanuc control systems with Turning, Milling and Wire EDM, any one or all for CNC machinist roll.
- Read and interpret mechanical engineering drawings.
- Experienced to determine the best step by step process to manufacture mechanical components.
- Able to work both unsupervised and as part of a team.
- Demonstrate safe work practices.
- Forklift licence (desirable but not essential)
- Dogging/Rigging (desirable but not essential)
- CAM programming )desirable but not essential)
- Gearbox, bogie wheel assemblies and pulley strip and rebuilds.
- Assembly of new manufactured components.
- Reviewing Job packs, drawings, or samples to ensure accurate production.
- Planning proper sequencing of task to complete the jobs
- Assembling mechanical components using thermal expansion.
- Measuring component with micrometers.
- Bearing fitment using residual clearance and hydraulic drive up.
- Overseeing, guiding, and assisting Apprentices.
Skills and experience
- Good mechanical aptitude and experience.
- High attention to detail and quality.
- Trade experience, Mechanical Fitter/Machinist.
- High work ethic and time management.
- Ability to work as part of a team or unsupervised.

- HR Licenses LF, DG or BG (preferred but not essential)
