The Opportunity:
As part of the Risk & Governance Division of La Trobe Financial, you will be responsible for a portfolio of borrower’s accounts that are experiencing problems with making their repayments. Your primary responsibility will be to work with the borrowers, to identify reasons why they are unable to pay, and to achieve the earliest possible resolution.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain a portfolio of accounts and display an ability to ensure that each
- Consistently follow proven arrears management procedures and guidelines
- Follow up all dishonoured payments, communicating the issue to the customer in a timely manner
- Deal with all borrowers in a manner that is consistent with our Firm, Friendly and Fair policy and enter into suitable and effective Arrears Repayment Arrangements with defaulting borrowers
- Identify borrowers that are experiencing financial difficulties and ensure that appropriate assistance is provided in a timely and legally compliant manner
- Identify accounts that require Legal Default Notices and ensure that these are issued promptly with accuracy in accordance
with legislation and arrears management procedures and guidelines - Document all action taken and all communication with borrowers, solicitors and third parties
- Ensure effective resolution of complaints, referring to either Dispute Resolution (IDR) or External Dispute Resolution (EDR)
- Represent La Trobe Financial in a professional manner and demonstrate La Trobe Financial’s corporate values at all times
About You:
- Minimum of three (3) years’ experience in a similar role, ideally in Mortgages
- Strong knowledge of the mortgage collections process and relevant legislation
- Knowledge of ASIC collections procedure, together with borrower harassment and hardship guidelines would be an advantage
- Relevant industry experience together with AML awareness, willingness to complete NCCP and Privacy Act Training
- Excellent negotiating and decision-making ability
