Mazenod College is a Catholic Secondary Boys Day / Boarding School conducted by the Oblates of Mary Immaculate with an enrolment of 850 boys including 84 Boarding students.
Applications are invited for the position of College Nurse to provide first aid services, health and policy promotion and primary prevention. This is a full-time position working 38 hours per week, rostered on shifts Monday to Friday with the specific breakdown of hours and times worked in Boarding/Students Services to be negotiated with the Principal and/or Director of Boarding. As this is a term time only role, the College Nurse is not required to work in student vacation periods.
The College Nurse provides quality health care to both day students and boarders, as well as first aid for emergency care or injury of staff and visitors. The role includes the provision of medical support at inter-school sporting events, monitoring of boys at risk and with special health requirements, medication administration, coordination of student immunisation programs, and maintenance of health records. The position works collaboratively with the College Leadership Team, School Psychologists, Pastoral Care and Boarding teams.
The successful applicant will have either nursing experience in a school setting, or in general practice or community nursing. You will have a genuine interest in health promotion and student welfare, experience working with adolescents, and have a kind and empathetic nature.
The College Nurse will have an appetite for a busy but key supportive role in a dynamic educational setting and be willing to take part in opportunities for health promotion and wellbeing initiatives with both students and staff in the general College setting and Boarding community.
On appointment, the successful applicant will require a current Working with Children Check and a Western Australia Department of Education National Police History Check (NPHC).
