Your New Role
The Commercial Manager, Real Assets Portfolio (we call it 'Mid Risk') is responsible for the business and operational management of the Mid Risk Portfolio of AustralianSuper, which comprises c. $62 billion of equity and debt investments in Real Assets globally, primarily real estate and infrastructure.
Reporting to the Head of Investment Capability, Mid Risk, your responsibilities will include but are not limited to:
- Developing and overseeing the Annual Budget and rolling Business Plan of the Mid Risk Portfolio within the Fund's Annual Budget and Business Plan.
- Building a partnership approach with the Fund's Finance team and Investments Strategy, Oversight and Enablement (SOE) team in respect of the Budget and financial performance of Mid Risk.
- Working with the Mid Risk transaction teams and Fund Finance teams, preparing sign-off on each transaction covering the Mid Risk Budget and RG 97 implications of that.
- Enabling successful strategic planning for the Mid Risk Portfolio, including identifying strategic priorities, resourcing, system and investment process requirements.
- Contributing to the development of the organisational design of the Mid Risk Portfolio to achieve its strategy, including offshore growth, and implementing that design.
- Driving evidence-based decision making - including appropriate and simple metrics that provide solid data for informed decision making, such as business strategy alignment, cost/benefit, and cost/quality/risk.
- Monitoring the operational risk of the Mid Risk Portfolio in conjunction with Mid Risk's risk partner.
- Identify opportunities to uplift and improve processes, and work with other stakeholders to implement these improvements.
What You'll Need
- Extensive experience in a commercial or transaction role within funds/ asset management, especially Real Assets such as infrastructure and/or real estate.
- A deep understanding of investment transaction processes.
- Demonstrated strategic planning and budgeting experience within an investments environment.
- Excellent stakeholder relationship skills.
- Demonstrated ability to work under pressure, setting and managing multiple conflicting priorities within specified time frames.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Demonstrable proficiency in reporting writing, communication, planning and coordination skills.
- Relevant tertiary qualifications, ideally within finance, economics, law or related fields.
