Job description

Having an accurate view of the surrounding airspace is critical to the Air Force, and as a Communication Electronic Technician, you’re responsible for making that possible. From setting up essential ground-air telecommunications to problem solving equipment faults on the fly, this exciting role will allow you to travel around Australia, ensuring safe skies for Air Force operations whilst protecting our country.
What you’ll do
You’ll perform a range of key maintenance tasks that could include:
Performing system checks to ensure equipment is in full working order
Performing routine maintenance on various systems
Ensuring equipment faults are fixed fast to keep operations running smoothly
Setting up remote communications
You may also be responsible for maintaining and repairing the following equipment and systems:
Ground-based radar systems

Integrated communication systems such as High, Very High and Ultra-High Frequency radio systems
Ground-based navigational aids such as Instrument Landing Systems (ILS) and non-directional beacons
Training and Career progression
We’ll train you from the ground up, teaching you everything you need to know to dive into this role during your Initial Employment Training (IET). You’ll be paid for training, and receive a nationally recognised qualification upon completion, arming you with the knowledge, skills and confidence to excel.
There are also opportunities to expand your learning and training into additional areas, such as rigging, workplace health and safety, and data management. Following your IET, further courses are also available to help you develop fault finding and problem-solving skills. There's plenty of room to grow in this role. How far you go is up to you.
Additional Information
