St John Ambulance NSW has been delivering first aid and community medical support services in NSW for nearly 140 years.
We are a registered charity with thousands of volunteers across the state. These volunteers are trained and equipped to help with first aid and medical services in the community, at regular events and also during disasters such as bushfires or floods. Our youth programs teach 8-17 year olds first aid and leadership skills and provide volunteering opportunities for those young people.
We are also an accredited Social Trader, delivering first aid training, selling first aid products, and offering first aid and other medical services to keep communities and businesses safe. As a Social Trader, when people buy our products and services, they are helping fund our volunteers and programs, and improve community safety and resilience across NSW.
The scope of our services has grown to include:
- First aid training, including specialist courses for mental health, high risk work sites, workplaces, and free first aid training to primary school children
- Event health services, keeping people safe at events right across NSW, ranging from small local gatherings to large scale events like festivals and New Year’s Day celebrations
- Equipping individuals, families and workplaces with high quality first aid products and services
- Workplace health services and support for NSW Local Health Districts
- Working alongside emergency services organisations in times of need and disasters
- Delivering community programs, including free first aid training for primary school students and local communities.
- Advocacy and public awareness work related to first aid and improving health outcomes
About the Role:
The Communication and Engagement Coordinator reports to the Communications and Engagement Manager and will see you will involved in a broad range of initiatives to educate the community, advocate for change, enhance the profile of St John NSW, and support other commercial and strategic goals.
The role will work to support all corporate and volunteer teams as required. In particular, you will work alongside the Community Programs and Marketing areas. You will help develop, and lead delivery of, a comprehensive Communications and Engagement calendar. You will also work responsively to meet needs and opportunities that come up day-to-day, including from media.
There is lots of flexibility working over the week in a blended working from home and office model.
Our ideal candidate will:
- Build a positive image of St John NSW with external stakeholder groups
- Help shape planning for communications & engagement aligned with current strategic priorities
- Drive development of content for media, social media, Identify and recommend campaigns to enhance St John NSW brand in the community and drive awareness of St John NSW products and services
- Champion and promote across our organisation: key messages, brand assets, key collateral and other opportunities to promote St John NSW
- Evaluate success/outcomes of selected significant events or campaigns and have a strong focus on continuous improvement
