About the Role
The Communications Assistant supports the organisation by assisting in the production of the Communication section's output, working in close conjunction with all section team leaders.
We currently have a permanent full-time position available.
About You
To be considered for this position you will need to clearly demonstrate the following essential skills and experience: (Desired only if in italics)
- Relevant tertiary qualifications and/or previous experience working in a similar role
- Basic knowledge of HTML and experience using content management systems
- Computer skills, a minimum of advanced Office 365 and working knowledge of database applications; with relevant experience in office administration
- Experience in the following software would be a bonus: Audacity, Photoshop, PowerPoint, InDesign, Adobe
- Basic graphics knowledge and experience (e.g. Canva)
- Basic understanding with cloud-based design software such as Canva
- Basic WordPress/web knowledge or willingness to learn
- Problem solving skills and the ability to absorb and understand information and relay the information to other parties
- Strong attention to detail, planning and organising skills and the ability to work in high pressure situations with conflicting priorities, to ensure tasks are completed within deadlines
- Proven ability to work efficiently in a team and fast paced environment, as well as the ability to work independently
- Excellent written and oral communication skills and the ability to write for a range of different purposes, communication channels, and audiences
- Proven ability to communicate and work in a team environment
- Ability to write for different platforms and purposes
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to deal with a diverse range of people and stakeholders.
- Ability to learn Federation rules, policies and procedures and apply these with a high degree of tact, diplomacy and political awareness
- Adherence to confidentiality and compliance matters
- Demonstrates initiative and a positive outlook
- Positive attitude to unionism
- Demonstrated awareness of WHS policies and procedures

The New South Wales Teachers Federation is the registered trade union representing NSW public school teachers in pre-schools, infants, primary and secondary schools and TAFE Institutes.
