ABOUT THE ROLE
Due to an increase in project and service opportunities, Becker Mining Australia is currently seeking a positive and enthusiastic qualified Communications Technician/Technical Officer to join our Newcastle communications team based in Thornton NSW and support our current and future clients and suppliers. The successful candidate will take an interest in and enjoy working with a broad cross section of technology products and services. You will be proficient at communicating with clients, taking ownership of issues reported and a capable problem solver to meet or exceed customer expectations.
This is a full-time position based in Thornton, New South Wales, Australia. This position requires some local and state travel to meet the requirements of the position.
The successful candidate will be required to, but not limited to:
- Implementation of upgrades and new communication systems.
- Maintain, program & service communication systems and components.
- Assist with system design
- Undertake Site surveys and network audits, develop reports to present audit findings.
- Conduct fault finding, troubleshoot diagnosis & complete maintenance.
- Undertake cable running & installation.
- Develop an understanding and maintain awareness of Becker Mining’s product range.
- Maintain awareness of industry standards & expectations within the field of service.
- Travel within region, interstate & overseas if required.
- Develop strong client relationships through superior client servicing.
- Ability to provide feedback to Management on client-related system issues & business development opportunities.
- Work in accordance with WHS standards, ensuring personal safety and awareness of those impacted by the scope of your work.
Our offices are located in Thornton (Newcastle) and St Marys (Sydney).
ABOUT YOU
As the Communications Technician / Technical Officer you will bring to the position:
- An Electronic or Communication trade qualification i.e. Cert III – Electronics related field, or 5+ years relevant experience in communications systems, fault diagnosis and maintenance;
- Experienced in site-based repairs associated with Communication Technician or Electronics Technician;
- Experience with or understanding of radio communications, industrial networking and/or microwave would be beneficial;
- A willingness to learn current and new technology-based products and services;
- Demonstrated effective communication, organisational skills and an attention to detail;
- Demonstrated strong customer service skills and ability to take ownership of tasks;
- Demonstrated problem solving ability
- Experience and knowledge of Work Health and Safety methods and practices
- Ability to work autonomously and in a timely manner
- Current Driver’s Licence;
- Ability to obtain a police clearance and pre-employment medical.
