ABOUT THE ROLE

We are searching for a talented Community Awareness and Engagement specialist to join our team and deliver a range of community engagement and marketing initiatives. You'll develop and implement high-quality community engagement and awareness projects and campaigns that deliver positive experiences for our clients and community.

This role works in hand with local organisations, the community and the rest of the headspace team, seeking to increase Community Awareness of mental health issues among young people. You will be promoting positive messages around reducing stigma and discrimination and encouraging early help seeking. You will promote the headspace centres and headspace National initiatives and campaigns on social media and websites, as well as supporting, designing, and delivering health promotion activities and local community events such as Youth Week, Mental Health Week, Pride, headspace Day, R U OK Day? and Reconciliation Week and more.

In this role there will be an emphasis on working collaboratively by leading the Youth Reference Group (YRG) and Family and Friends Reference Group. You will work closely with other headspace staff to ensure that the impact of any campaign and event is addressed at the planning stages and created in consultation with the YRG and local consortium members. This role will also see you building and maintaining relationships with stakeholders and partners with the goal of progressing headspace’s presence in the community. You will also ensure information regarding engagement activities are shared appropriately with the community to support capacity building and participation.

ABOUT YOU

We are looking for someone with drive and passion who can work creatively and, in a process,-driven way to engage young people with mental health and social issues.

This role will require you to draw from your experience coordinating and facilitating youth programs, campaigns and events, evaluating the success of Community Awareness programs, and working systemically to implement new initiatives. 

Ideally you will also have

  • Tertiary qualifications in health promotion, marketing and communications, community development, youth, welfare, event management, behavioural or social sciences, or extensive experience in community engagement and awareness campaigns, marketing and communications, health promotion or event management
  • The ability to develop and implement Community Awareness and Engagement plans / projects
  • Experience in event / activity / project evaluation and acquittal.
  • Previous experience working with diverse communities, with a capacity to build effective partnerships with relevant stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated experience in liaising with community organisations, service providers and mental health organisations
  • Knowledge of, and experience working in, the community care and health systems and other programs relevant to young people
  • Excellent documentation, record keeping, and report writing skills.

REMUNERATION

Community Health Centre (Stand Alone Services) Social and Community Service Employees Multi Enterprise Agreement 2022

Classification Level 3 or 4 dependent on qualifications and experience
