About the role
The Community Connector role acts as a ‘connector' to link people to health and social services in the area by helping people access information and referring them to support. They will do this through one-on-one support, community-based activities and partnerships with local groups and organisations.

Your duties include:
Delivering engagement activities that connect residents with relevant support and information to improve health and wellbeing outcomes
Help residents to better understand how to access reliable information (in language if needed) about service access, employment, and other supports in their area
Drawing on your connections to partner with relevant community leaders, groups, and organisations to help us work collaboratively with the community and better engage diverse groups
Sharing your knowledge and understanding of the strengths and barriers within the high-rise communities and how cohealth can design services to better support their needs

Our ideal candidate:
Have evidence of strong connection to networks within the public housing high rise and proactive involvement in the community
Be a current or recent resident of public housing high rise North-West Melbourne
Have language skills in any of the following: Vietnamese, Arabic, Mandarin, Somali or Cantonese and ability to understand and translate and write basic messaging in language
Have experience working with culturally diverse communities and demonstrated understanding of cultural safety
All appointments are made subject to a satisfactory Police Check, a Working With Children Check (WWCC), complete a Statutory Declaration, evidence of legal rights to work in Australia, and evidence of vaccination against COVID-19 (3 doses).
Roles that are determined to be Risk Category A or B [staff that have direct and/or indirect contact with body substances and are at higher risk of occupational exposure to infections] will be required to provide evidence of immunisation assessment including Influenza prior to commencement [A] or within 12 weeks of commencement [B]. This is in accordance with the Victorian Minister of Health Mandatory Vaccination Orders for COVID-19 and legislated requirement for influenza vaccination.
