Role Details
The Community Development Coordinator (CDC) is a role within SaferFamily Services and is accountable to the Senior CommunityDevelopment Coordinator for:
• Developing effective partnerships with agencies andorganisations for the successful coordination of family andcommunity programs within the Children’s Centre and widercommunity that enhance parenting and community capacity with afocus on health, care, education, family support and wellbeing forfamilies.
• Applying knowledge and understanding of community strengthsand needs to support children and families with high and complexneeds to be safe, well and connected to community and culture. TheCDC’s work in partnership with other agencies to facilitate arange of programs and services that include groups for parents andcarers, parenting programs and community events and personaldevelopment to enhance skill development. The role requires theincumbent to participate in the implementation of an interagencyapproach, ensuring the work connected with Children's Centrescontributes to capacity building of children, families andcommunities.
• Contribute their knowledge of Community Development, thelocal community and strategies to increase families activeparticipation in the centre and in the broader community. TheChildren's Centre Program is a collaborative early childhoodinitiative that brings together care, education, health, communitydevelopment activities and family services for families and youngchildren.

Must hold a current Australian issued driver’s licence(equivalent to minimum class C).
Covid -19 – will be required to have had two COVID-19vaccinations prior to engagement with DHS, unless it would bemedically unsafe for the employee to do so, or they’recurrently employed in the SA public sector and are not required tobe vaccinated.
An appropriate tertiary qualification in a related field eg: Socialsciences, Community Development, primary health care isdesirable.
About the Business
Community and Family Services supports vulnerable people andfamilies to participate in social and economic life and buildstronger communities. This division comprises three key areas:
Safer Family Services (SFS) provides awide range of intensive family support services to children, youngpeople and families experiencing a high risk of statutoryintervention from the child protection or youth justice systems.Services also include family support, Community Development andparenting and youth programs.
The Office for Women works acrossgovernment and the community towards achieving gender equity andpositive change for women in South Australia by developing policyand advising on issues affecting women to improve their safety,wellbeing and economic security. The office also oversees theWomen’s Information Service to support women over the phone,online and in person, as well as regional safety hubs across thestate.
Communities and Justice works towardsbuilding community safety and wellbeing by providing support andservices to children, young people and families in the youthjustice system, building the capacity of communities throughCommunity Development projects and working in partnership with thecommunity services sector to respond to people with complex andexceptional needs.

Salary Range: $84,522-$94,003 (ASO5)
