Vasse community already has nearly 3,000 residents, over 100 shops and businesses, two sports ovals, four parks and two sought after schools. When fully developed in 2035, it will be home to more than 6,500 residents.
This role is an excellent opportunity for an experienced, enthusiastic and proactive individual to further strengthen and unite the growing community of Vasse Estate. It is a part-time role, working up to 2 days per week, with flexible hours.
Your Tasks
This role will require you to perform the following functions:
- Be the primary point of contact for all aspects of Community Development.
- Plan, develop, implement and evaluate a range of agreed community initiatives, programs and events at Vasse Estate.
- Manage and coordinate an annual program of community events, programs and activities.
- Investigate and secure external funding through grants and/or sponsorship where possible.
- Manage and coordinate the distribution of sponsorship funds to community groups annually
- Build networks and collaborative partnerships with key stakeholders to encourage a coordinated and integrated approach to community initiatives, programs and events (including City of Busselton, Vasse schools, Vasse community groups, potential funding bodies, local community groups)
- Implement initiatives that generate a sense of ownership and empowerment by the community to meet their own needs, improve their well-being and enhance their quality of life.
- Monitor, review and report on all Community Development activity when required.
- Engage Vasse residents, seek input and encourage discussion on Community Development strategies using digital means or community discussions.
- Manage the approved budgets for Community Development.
- Work with the Sales Team and Marketing Consultant to co-ordinate and provide written input for the quarterly community newsletter.
- Provide input to update the Vasse Community Development Plan.
The successful applicant will report to our Project Manager and work with our project team, including our Strategic Marketing consultant and Sales Team.
Your Skills & Experience
Ideally, applicants should be able to demonstrate:
- Tertiary qualifications in Community Development or a related field;
- Experience in Community Development and working with community groups and organisations;
- Event management & planning experience, including idea generation, supplier and budget management
- Experience liaising on a professional basis with local government, not for profit and/or community groups;
- Excellent interpersonal skills, including negotiation and conflict resolution;
- Networking, creating partnerships and relationship building;
- Experience developing Community Development plans;
- Experience in successfully applying for funding / grants;
- Experience in negotiating and evaluating sponsorship proposals;
- Excellent communication skills, report writing and public speaking;
- Proficiency with the MS Office suite of products;
- A current Driver's Licence (essential) and First Aid/CPR qualification and Working with Children Check and National Police Clearance (essential).
The ability to occasionally work outside of normal work hours, including weekends, is essential.
