Summary:
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Community Development Officer to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and implementing Community Development programs and initiatives that promote social, economic, and environmental sustainability. The Community Development Officer will work closely with community members, stakeholders, and local organizations to identify needs, develop strategies, and implement solutions that improve the quality of life for residents of our community.
Responsibilities:
- Maintain, develop and review existing programs including ensuring contract and grant compliance requirements.
- Work with Government Partners (DCJ) in delivering TEI programs and localized events/projects
- Provide information, referral and advice to members of the community who attend the Cottage requesting assistance
- Develop and implement new programs and initiatives that promote social, economic, and environmental sustainability
- Work closely with community members, stakeholders, and local organizations to identify needs, develop strategies, and implement solutions that improve the quality of life for members of our community and our clients.
- Build and maintain relationships with community members, stakeholders, and local organizations to ensure effective collaboration and communication
- Conduct research and analysis to identify trends, opportunities, and challenges in the community
- Develop and manage budgets, timelines, and project plans for Community Development initiatives
- Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of Community Development programs and initiatives
- Prepare reports, presentations, and other materials to communicate progress and outcomes to stakeholders and funders
- Provide guidance and support to community members and organizations to help them achieve their goals
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Community Development, social work, or a related field or;
- Diploma/Cert IV in Community Servies with relevant experience
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in Community Development, social work, or a related field
- Strong understanding of Community Development principles, practices, and strategies
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and relationship-building skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and relevant software platforms
