The Role
The City is seeking an experienced, motivated, and innovative person to join the City's Community Development team as a Community Development Support Officer on a fix term contract for 6 months. The successful candidate will have expertise in Community Development, capacity building, project management and support and stakeholder relationship management, plus a desire to facilitate positive social outcomes.
The role is responsible for:
- Liaising with community members and stakeholders, and responding to community enquiries.
- Supporting, planning and implementing Community Development initiatives.
- Building community capacity and encouraging the growth of self-sufficient communities.
- Developing relationships with community groups, community leaders, local service providers and other key stakeholders.
- Identify new opportunities to meet community need, with a particular emphasis on collaborative and/or community lead opportunities.
- Participating in relevant internal and external networks.
- Managing a variety of community-facing communication avenues.
Skills and Experience
You will be an adaptable and collaborative Community Development professional, with skills and experience in capacity building, relationship building and implementing Community Development initiatives, preferably in a local government context. You will thrive working in a busy and change-driven organisation and positively contribute to the team's culture.

Successful applicants may be required to work occasional weekends and evenings which forms part of the ordinary hours of work for this position (additional rates apply).
