Community Enforcement Officer or Community Enforcement Lead Officer
We are seeking a council compliance officer to join our team, either a Community Enforcement Officer or Community Enforcement Lead Officer.
Officers are responsible for monitoring and enforcing compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and codes of practice within the jurisdiction of New South Wales.

About you: Community Enforcement Officer:
- Knowledge of the principles of law enforcement including the rules of evidence, procedural fairness and officer discretion with experience dealing with the public, conflict resolution and difficult situations and issues (Grade 4).
- For Grade 6 level, in addition to above, the candidate will have relevant qualifications or experience in development assessment, environmental studies, building surveying or a related discipline.
- Desirable – demonstrated knowledge and experience in local government regulations.
About you: Community Enforcement Lead Officer:
- A strong background in regulatory compliance, including illegal development, with a focus on local government regulations and policies.
- Three + years’ experience in a similar role.
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience in government investigations (Grade 7) plus tertiary or base level professional qualifications in development assessment, environmental studies, building surveying or a related discipline (Grade 9).
- Desirable – demonstrated knowledge and experience in illegal development.
- Full-time contract role (38 hours per week) to 27th December 2024, with likely extension.
- Flexible working arrangements.
- Salary and Conditions will be in accordance with the NSW Local Government (State) Award with an appointment at a salary in the range of Grade 4, $58,271 to $67,516 per annum, Grade 6 $66,085 - $76,570 per annum and Grade 7/9 $79,088 - $91,636 (dependent upon skills and experience).

This position is based at Mullumbimby, however Council can require you to work from other work sites as required for operational reasons.
