Job description

Cross River Rail Delivery Authority (CRRDA)…Your chance to work with the best!

Cross River Rail will transform the way we travel to, from and through Brisbane in the future. It will be a catalyst for 10 years of wider rail transformation across the whole of South East Queensland and it is already playing a key role in how we prepare for the 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games.

Cross River Rail is a new 10.2km rail line including 5.9km of twin tunnels running under the Brisbane River and CBD. It includes the delivery of four new underground stations, two new above-ground stations, accessibility rebuilds for six stations, the construction of three new stations on the Gold Coast, and the introduction of a new world-class ‘ETCS' signalling system.

This is a once in a lifetime opportunity to work on one of Australia's largest infrastructure projects and to be a part of something that will leave a lasting legacy for generations to come.

About the Role

The Cross River Rail Experience Centre in Brisbane's CBD is a state-of-the-art Community Engagement and education hub developed in partnership with the Queensland Museum, which provides detailed project information, digital engagement experiences, and learning opportunities.  As one of our Community Engagement Officers you will be representing and promoting Cross River Rail to visiting members of the public and school groups, as well as assisting with off-site Community Engagement events.

This opportunity is presented as an ongoing casual position. The Experience Centre opens six days per week and our program of Community Engagement events are regularly scheduled on weekends, which may involve early starts or evening finish times as well as travel to sites outside of Brisbane’s CBD. We are seeking applications from people who have flexible availability on weekdays as well as weekends. Attractive penalty rates apply to weekend work.

Responsibilities include:

  • Provide friendly and quality front of house service to visitors and stakeholders.
  • Assist to deliver public programs including guided tours, holiday activities, education programs and events and functions.
  • Open and close the Experience Centre and maintain cleanliness of the site.
  • Set up and dismantle displays, workshops, children's activities, and presentations at external venues as well as the Experience Centre.
  • Administrative duties including telephone and email enquiries, bookings and data entry.
  • Identify and report basic faults in relation to exhibits and AV equipment.
  • Ensure health and safety procedures, policies and standards are met.

About You:

We are after outgoing individuals who have a passion for delivering first class customer service and Community Engagement. You must be able to work independently and confidently communicate with different age groups and demographics including children. The Experience Centre is a unique environment, but you will have had some similar work experience performing tasks such as visitor/front of house services, presenting programs, running tours & activities or promotions in an events setting.

Educational activities and exhibits at the Experience Centre include Aboriginal Cultural Heritage, Archaeology, City Transformation, Architecture and Art, Transport Planning, Rail and the Science of Tunneling. An interest or passion in one or more of these areas would be highly regarded. Experience with Virtual Reality technology or other gaming environments would also be advantageous.

Applicants must either currently hold or are able to obtain a Working with Children Blue Card to work at the Cross River Rail Experience Centre.

How To Apply:

Please submit your CV / Resume and a short cover letter explaining why you would like to work at the Cross River Rail Experience Centre and why you think you would be perfect for the position before the closing date of 3/6/24.

Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people are strongly encouraged to apply for all Cross River Rail Delivery Authority vacancies.
