ABOUT THE ORGANISATION

Established in 1998, the Brain Injury Association of Tasmania (BIAT) provides a public voice for all Tasmanians impacted by brain injury. BIAT is recognised as having specialist knowledge of brain injury and its effects on individuals, families and communities.

ABOUT THE ROLE

We are seeking a part-time (25-30 hours per week) Community Engagement Officer on an ongoing basis, tied to the ongoing receipt of annual grants.  The position is classified as a level 5 under the SCHADS Award.

The Community Engagement Officer will:

  • provide internal leadership in Community Engagement to ensure understanding and practice of Community Engagement are embedded in the organisation.
  • be responsible for the delivery of established, and development of new, brain injury education and prevention programs for young people. 
  • undertake specific Community Engagement tasks including responsibility for BIAT’s social media presence and on-line newsletter.
  • manage and deliver the Peer Support Program.
  • deliver the Custody for Life program.
  • will progress the Heads Up to Brain Injury online program and training.

POSITION CRITERIA:

The Community Engagement Officer needs to have an exceptional ability to engage and communicate with groups of people, tailoring communication to suit a specific target group or age range.

Excellent literacy skills, highly developed communication skills and attention to detail are required if you are to be successful in this position. Essential to this role is your capacity to work under pressure with competing demands and deadlines. The successful candidate will need to be able to work autonomously but must also be a strong team player.
