Your new role

  • Part time (22.5 hrs or 3 days per week) Fixed term up to June 2026
  • Located in Deakin, ACT
  • Annual salary between $89,166.58 to $90,403.28

The Community Engagement and Awareness Officer raises awareness about gambling related harms, and of support offered by RACR's AGSS program. This is achieved by presenting communication and awareness strategies that cater for individuals experiencing harm from their own or someone else's gambling, their family and friends, service providers, the gambling industry, and the general community.

Duties

In collaboration with the ACT Gambling Support Service Team, the Community Engagement and Awareness Officer:

  • assists in the development and implementation of AGSS communication strategy, campaigns and events including online content for RACR and AGSS websites and social media, with the aim of increasing awareness and engagement among target groups.
  • provides support, including co-facilitation, to AGSS group programs, community consultation and education activities;
  • maintains and shares knowledge of local services and cultivates referral pathways for current and potential clients of the AGSS which responds to their needs;
  • works collaboratively with Partner Organisations including CARE Financial, Relationships Australia (RA) Queensland and the Gambling and Racing Commission, to provide a seamless entry point and quality service provision including: assessment, intake and referral of clients and their families via telephone or face-to-face contact;

What you'll need to succeed

  1. Certificate IV (AQF level 4) in Mental Health, AOD, Mental Health Peer Work, equivalent experience or willingness to undertake
  2. Well-developed written and verbal communication skills including the ability to deliver small group activities and deliver presentations to various groups.
  3. Experience with stakeholder engagement and communication, particularly with young people.
  4. Demonstrated organisational skills, including the ability to plan and prioritise effectively.
  5. Demonstrated proficiency with all social media platforms, technology, including the ability to use Microsoft Office applications and the capacity to quickly learn new technologies, including electronic client management system packages.
