About the Role
The Community Engagement Team is looking for a people-focused Community Engagement Practitioner that is responsible for developing and building best practice Community Engagement capability across the organisation and enhancing processes that guide and facilitate effective Community Engagement outcomes in accordance with council’s Community Engagement Policy and Excellence in Engagement Framework.
The Branch connects, empowers and celebrates communities and places through the facilitation of grants, partnerships and programs, social planning and Community Engagement. We support and develop initiatives that build resilience of our communities and create opportunities that are available to all.
Key duties of the role include:
- Champion council’s Community Engagement Policy and Excellence in Engagement Framework and ensure they are effectively embedded and implemented across the organisation.
- Oversee and implement the actions of the Community Engagement Action Plan in collaboration with key stakeholders to advance excellence in engagement.
- Provide specialist advice and support for council staff in planning and implementing best practice Community Engagement to facilitate effective Community Engagement outcomes.
- Engage, collaborate and partner with internal and external stakeholders and the community to develop and deliver Community Engagement initiatives to address identified needs.
- Manage and maintain digital platforms which host and promote, and oversee and co-ordinate all council-led Community Engagement projects.
This position is based at the Sunshine Coast City Hall, in the heart of Maroochydore CBD. This state of the art and sustainable building is designed to achieve an innovative and collaborative workspace.
About you
You will possess a qualification in Community Engagement, social planning, social sciences, community development or related field, with contemporary experience in a similar role. You will have demonstrated experience in planning, facilitating, and guiding Community Engagement projects and delivering innovative and best practice Community Engagement processes.
You will have relevant experience with highly developed communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to communicate persuasively, engage in active listening, consult with a wide range of people, foster collaboration and cooperation, and facilitate groups.
To succeed in this role, you will possess strong project management and organisation skills with demonstrated ability to develop plans, projects and programs and coordinate actions to achieve outcomes.
