About Us?

The Institute for Urban Indigenous Health (IUIH) leads the development, planning and Delivery of comprehensive primary health care for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people living in South East Queensland.

The Quality and Innovation team provides clinical oversight and support t IUIH member services and is responsible for the service development and delivery of urban Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health and family wellbeing care. This diverse team includes IUIH Data and Research, Logistics, Oral Health, Pharmacy, Policy, Social Health, and Regional Clinical Support.

The Goodna Clinic was established in 2014 in response to the large and unmet health and related needs of a large and growing population of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people in the Goodna region.

About the Role?

As a Community Liaison Officer, you will be responsible for developing and implementing local marketing and community engagement strategies to actively increase awareness, access to and uptake of health services with the primary goal being to ensure our Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community have the best possible health outcomes. The role will entail service delivery from designated primary clinic locations and outreach services as required.

  • Establish and maintain effective networks throughout local Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities
  • Develop a database of effective strategic relationships with key government and non-government stakeholders in the catchment area, including sporting agencies, schools, health and social service providers
  • Work closely with the Practice Manager to monitor trends in service uptake and activity
  • Research and identify social community demographics and social networks
  • Conduct promotional visits to local community groups, schools, social service agencies etc. to provide practical information and advice regarding access and engagement to our medical services
  • Ability and willingness to travel throughout the catchment area

  • Current C Class Drivers Licence (QLD)
  • Current Criminal History Check
  • Current Blue Card

Desirable, but not mandatory:

  • Previous experience working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and /or communities
