Location: Community based - Mossman Gorge
Status: Full Time Fixed Term until 30 June 2024 (possible extension)
Salary: $83,383 - $91,452 p.a. + 11% superannuation contribution

Apunipima Cape York Health Council is a community controlled Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander health service, which provides culturally appropriate, family centred, primary health care services to the communities and people of Cape York.
About the Opportunity
As Community Liaison Officer you will perform a range of duties to coordinate and support Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander clients in Mossman Gorge to access culturally safe, holistic health and well-being through the establishment of strong communications channels between Apunipima Cape York Health Council and healthcare partners.
Pre-employment screening for vaccination against Vaccine Preventable Diseases will be conducted for the successful applicant.
About You
To be successful in this role you will have:
- At least three (3) years’ experience working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities in a liaison/health/welfare role
- Qualification relevant to the role (Cert IV Community Services), or
equivalent relevant experience - Excellent written and verbal communication skills and strong time management skills
- Informed understanding and knowledge of the impact of disability on daily life and how reasonable and necessary supports can impact on a person's ability to participate in community and economic life
- Understanding of the historical and contemporary issues that impact on Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander people and their communities, particularly in Cape York
- Ability to communicate sensitively and effectively with Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander people in accordance with community protocols and customs
- Current Queensland Drivers Licence
- Blue Card (Working with Children Card) and NDIS Worker Screening Yellow Card or ability to obtain prior to commencement
