COMMUNITY SERVICE WORKER – RESIDENTIAL PROGRAMS
WHOS (WE HELP OURSELVES) – LILYFIELD – OSTAR & RTOD
Part-time and casual positions available
WHOS (We Help Ourselves) provides a range of alcohol and other drug (AOD) treatment programs in NSW and Queensland. Information on WHOS’ services can be found at www.whos.com.au. Our Lilyfield campus includes two residential services for clients on opioid substitution treatment (OST):
- OSTAR (Opioid Substitution to Abstinence Residential) – for individuals whose goal is OST reduction.
- RTOD (Residential Treatment for Opioid Dependence) – for individuals whose goal is OST stabilisation.
Both OSTAR & RTOD are residential treatment services based on the Therapeutic Community model (where the residents themselves, through self-help and mutual support, are the catalysts for personal change).
WHOS is looking for part-time and casual Community Service Workers to join our OST residential programs. The roles involve:
- assessment, referral, and education,
- supervising and supporting clients in a residential setting,
- implementing a structured daily program (which includes facilitating groups),
- conducting therapeutic interventions.

Essential Criteria:
- Certificate IV or higher in COMMUNITY SERVICEs, AOD, mental health (or similar).
- Experience working with clients that have AOD use disorders and/or associated issues.
- Knowledge and understanding of harm reduction strategies.
- Ability to work shiftwork, particularly afternoon/evening shifts (and, if required, weekend shifts).
- Up to date with COVID-19 vaccinations and able to provide acceptable proof of vaccination status.
Desirable Criteria:
- Experience in facilitating groups.
- Experience in residential treatment centers.
- Knowledge of opioid substitution treatment.
Remuneration:
- Remuneration - SCHADSI Award Level 4
- Salary packaging is available
