The iconic Mercure Kakadu Crocodile Hotel located in the flagship town of Jabiru in the heart of Kakadu National Park is seeking a dynamic, passionate, and highly driven individual to take on the role of Conference and Events Coordinator.
As a Conference and Events Coordinator based in the heart of Kakadu National Park, you will be an integral part of orchestrating extraordinary events against the backdrop of this UNESCO World Heritage Site. This role offers a rare opportunity to blend professional event coordination with the awe-inspiring natural surroundings of Kakadu. The ideal candidate will bring creativity, adaptability, and a passion for delivering exceptional events.
Main responsibilities:
· Collaborate with clients to understand their Conference and event objectives.
· Plan and execute all aspects of events, taking advantage of the unique setting of Kakadu National Park.
· Manage logistics, budgeting, and coordination with local suppliers and indigenous communities.
· Source and liaise with vendors, ensuring a seamless experience for clients.
· Develop and maintain project timelines, accounting for the challenges of working in a remote area.
· Work closely with local communities to integrate cultural elements into events.
· Provide on-site support during events to ensure the smooth flow of activities.
· Have a flexible approach in adapting to guest requests.
· Have wide knowledge and passion for Indigenous Artistry and a commitment to see positive outcomes for the local communities.
· Your solid previous experience driving positive engagement and outcomes for Indigenous communities can maintain the positive relationship built with our community.
Qualifications:
· Proven experience in Conference and event coordination.
· Relevant Diploma is required or a minimum of 3 years of highly relevant work experience.
· Strong organisational and adaptability skills, especially in remote settings.
· Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
· Ability to work independently while fostering collaboration with local communities.
· Proficient in event management software and tools.
· Flexibility to work irregular hours, including evenings and weekends.
· Cultural sensitivity and a commitment to respecting and incorporating indigenous perspectives.
· You are able to cope with pressure in a fast-paced environment.
