The Role
Kingston City Council's Open Space team is seeking an energetic and self-motivated individual to assist with the maintenance and development of Council's foreshore areas, through the application of knowledge and skill in the area of Ecological Restoration and Land Management. As the requirements of the foreshore area shift throughout the year, the Foreshore Conservation Officer team perform a variety of tasks to meet the needs of this active space.
Based at the Garden Boulevard Depot, you will work with a small crew responsible for a range of ecological restoration and general maintenance tasks to deliver the department's program as scheduled. Duties include: revegetation and weed control (including herbicide application), seed head burning and hand weeding, as well as general maintenance of fencing and other foreshore infrastructure. Additionally, you will help deliver education and awareness programs; provide direction, support and guidance to community and school groups.
About You
We are looking for someone with:
- A positive attitude and strong work ethic.
- Good Ecological Vegetation Class/plant ID skills.
- Demonstrated experience in ecological restoration techniques including the use of plant equipment, hand weeding & herbicide application.
- The ability to effectively engage with the public
- A current Victorian Driver's License.
