Position Description
As a Construction Manager, you will be reporting directly to General Manager and you will be responsible to lead and manage the sub-contracts, trade team and supervisor team to deliver the project as per contract, project targets and client requirements and meeting individual and team KPI. You will also be required to participate and drive continuous improvement of the construction team and company overall operation.
Duties &Responsibilities
Construction Project Management – Medium Density
- Develop project schedules in line with the forecast project program
- Work with project estimator, coordinator, and team to identify and resolve problems timely and drive delivery efficiency, minimise wastage and achieve cost savings
- Deliver high quality finishing project and continuously drive quality check and improvement
- Contribute to source, negotiate and provide ongoing feedback to contractors and suppliers to ensure they follow Westurban standards and procedure and continues to improve and meet targets.
- Ensure sites comply with OHS and Westurban safety standards
- Communicate effectively with client and external inspectors to handover project and achieve clients satisfaction.
- Co-ordination of suppliers and contractors to ensure all jobs flow seamlessly and constructed within the required timeframes, under budget with highest quality.
- Approve project invoices by checking work progress and quality standards, dispute the invoice which is incorrect, more than progress completion or in doubt and notify contractor time.
- Assist with finance team to process projects accounts timely
- Assist with client managers to address client concern, resolve dispute, and meet client expectation
Leadership & Management
- Supervise, manage and mentor supervisors in Medium Density Division
- Manage the work allocation of Medium Density Projects to the team
- Deliver results for KPIs set for the team and each individual under the division
- Manage subcontractor, supplier, and consultants to drive performance, meet targets and achieve quality standards.
- Conduct performance review and provide feedback to operation and management
- Provide continuous training and ongoing support to the team members
- Participating in the recruitment process of your team
- Review and approve team members leave / permission application
Continuous Improvement
- Attend and participate in construction meeting, initiate and implement improvements
- Ensure work conforms to the BCA, applicable specifications, and relevant authority guidelines.
- Assist with communication project manager to promote construction projects and build strong market reputation and branding

Key Performance Indicators:
- Manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet performance targets and milestones
- Manage the supervisor team to deliver projects and meet individual and team KPI
- Retain capable team members and recruit suitable candidates to grow the team
- Complete construction work within budget and drive cost savings
- Develop project scheduling (smartsheet) and report project progress to management
- Identify, document, and rectify defects progressively to meet Westurban quality standards
- Assist with developing system, policy, and procedure to improve the construction management process
- Review building documentation, identify and resolve issues earlier to plan for project commencement
- Communicate effectively and professionally with internal and external stakeholder to achieve targets and promote company market reputation.
- Manage trades, contractors, suppliers, and consultants effectively to drive the quality project completion to meet client expectation
- Advocate safety, efficiency, and compliance in construction management methodology
- Comply with OHS and worksafe requirement, ensure site clean and safe at all time.
- Handover defect free project to clients to maximise client satisfaction.
- Meet accounts department timeline to facilitate timely payment to trades.
- Support operation and management to drive continuous improvement of Construction team performance
- Supports to marketing department to continue to promote company projects and branding.
Skills & Experiences
The successful candidate will demonstrate with below skills & experience:
- 5+ years construction management experience in Medium Density
- Extensive project management experience in the construction industry
- Trade Qualification and Project Management qualification
- Strong Res-Codes and BCA compliance knowledge
- Sound understanding of the Victorian construction market including IOH&S
- Strong ability to lead and manage a large site team to meet targets
- Strong ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines
- Excellent communication skills and problem-solving skills
- Excellent team player with strong leadership
- Strong attention to detail and willingness to learn
- Knowledge in construction tender documentation.
