About the Role
The role of the Construction Officer is to provide construction expertise throughout the project lifecycle (from design through to delivery) of an annual portfolio of civil infrastructure projects, in accordance with the needs and expectations of our communities.
The position holder will be accountable for auditing, supervision and monitoring of civil construction works including external private developments such as subdivisions, ensuring that infrastructure assets to be taken over by Council for future care and maintenance are constructed to set standards, within budgets and specifications.
The successful candidate is required to work with a high degree of autonomy and with minimal supervision in performing the surveillance and delivery of infrastructure projects and undertaking the role of Superintendent Representative in administrating contracts for the delivery of capital works.
Reporting to the Team Leader – Project Delivery, the core responsibilities include:
- Assist with the delivery and contract management of approximately 40 civil works contracts annually valued at approximately $30M.
- Undertake Superintendent Representative role in administrating contracts for the delivery of the capital works program.
- Undertake surveillance and contract administration of capital works contracts.
- Undertake surveillance of private subdivision and development construction works.
About You
- Civil Engineering Degree or Associate Diploma of Civil Engineering (or equivalent) or demonstrated suitable civil construction supervision.
- Civil Construction and contract management experience.
- Significant contract management experience and training.
- Sound knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act and associated Regulations.
- High level of computer literacy.
- High level oral and written communication skills.
- A current driver’s licence.
