Western Health is seeking a suitably qualified, highly motivated and dynamic Addiction Medicine/Addiction Psychiatry Consultant to join our multidisciplinary team at Dame Phyllis Frost Centre (DPFC), a maximum-security women’s prison in Melbourne’s West. The role will involve the provision of evidence-based Addiction Medicine services, including provision of high-quality clinical care and leadership for the clients and staff of the Custodial Health service at DPFC. Working within a culturally safe, trauma-informed model of practice, this role presents a significant opportunity to influence the nature and quality of care being delivered to this vulnerable client.On 1 July 2023, the delivery of primary healthcare transitioned to Western Health. The multidisciplinary team provides holistic and interconnected service provision to patients at DPFC. Successful applicants will be onboarded for orientation and training including additional training to support the delivery of culturally appropriate, trauma informed, gender affirming care for all patients including priority cohorts.This role presents a significant opportunity for both clinicians seeking to gain experience in custodial settings as part of their career development, as well as for people committed working with marginalised and vulnerable cohorts in this complex setting.This opportunity is offered on a permanent, part-time basis.To be Successful in this Role, you will:
- Have recognised qualifications as an Addiction Medicine Consultant (FAChAM) or Addiction Psychiatry Consultant (FRANZCP & Advanced Certificate).
