The appointment as Unit Director, is within the Mental Health Program, but carries with it an adjunct or joint partnership appointment (at Professor, Associate Professor or Senior Lecturer level, as appropriate) with the Monash University Department of Psychiatry to support the teaching and research components of the role.Reporting to the Service Director, the position has responsibility for the effective management and leadership of Eating Disorders. This includes an inpatient service at Dandenong, Day Program and community outpatient services. The Director in combination with the other Directors and the Program Director, will be responsible for the clinical governance within the Mental Health Program such that the provision of services across Monash Health is consistent with our Strategic and Clinical Services plans.As a member of the Monash Health Senior Management Team the appointee will provide leadership in achieving andupholding Monash Health’s Vision, Purpose, and Values.Key result areas

• Medical model of care at Monash Health is “consultant led”. Consultants are at the forefront of care provision and lead by example.
• Provide clinical leadership through active involvement in patient care.
• Be available to medical colleagues for consultation and liaison as appropriate regarding patient care.
• Be immediately available for urgent consultation and assistance in the management of clinically deteriorating patients.
• Support academic, research, education, training & supervision (both undergraduate and postgraduate) roles in the Mental Health Program.
• Support the Eating Disorders outreach services within Monash Health
• Contribute to the professional and corporate life of Monash Health by participation in appropriate committees and fora
• Contribute to ongoing service improvement and clinical and workforce innovation to ensure Monash Health provides high quality accessible Psychiatry Services within allocated resources and meets the needs of Monash Health patients.

Person specificationQualifications/registrations/licences (italics indicate desirable)Essential:

• Basic medical undergraduate qualification.
• Fellowship of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists (FRANZCP).
• Registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) as a specialist in psychiatry.
• Extensive experience in Psychiatry (minimum 5 years as Consultant Psychiatrist).
• Working with Children’s Certificate.

Desirable:

• A higher research degree (PhD), or equivalent research achievement as demonstrated by published work and research grant success.

The successful applicant will have to complete the Credentialling and Scope of Practice process prior to appointment and commencement. This will be reviewed on a regular basis.Technical skills/knowledge/experience

• Active participation in Continuous Professional Development and personal development and learning.
• Prior experience in ECT and credentialing is desirable. If not available, must attend Monash Health training as soon as practical after appointment.
