Head Medical is delighted to supporting Canberra Health Services with the recruitment of a Community Paediatrician to join their Developmental Paediatrics team in the delivery of services to the people of the ACT and regional NSW.
Working collaboratively as a member of the Community Paediatrics service, you'll work in tandem with Nursing, Medical, and Allied Health professionals across the Enhanced Health Services, and with external agencies and healthcare professionals, to facilitate comprehensive care and interventions for children and young people with a background of trauma and complex health needs.
Furthermore, you will be expected to prepare medical reports and actively participate in clinical consultations, collaborative multi-disciplinary assessments, and team meetings to ensure the provision of evidence-based holistic care.
Additionally, as with a senior position you will provide leadership, in the supervision of Community Paediatric Registrars, and research programs in the service as well as taking a leadership role in student teaching.
Benefits and Remuneration
- Competitive pay rates and excellent working conditions within a tertiary hospital. Salary package may reach up to $408,058 - $550,742 AUD, inclusive of salary, applicable allowances and superannuation

Requirements to apply
- Registered or eligible for registration as a medical practitioner with the Australian Health Practitioner’s Regulation Agency (AHPRA), or equivalent as an overseas trained specialist who has completed their training in either the UK, Ireland, Canada, USA or New Zealand
- Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (RACP) or an equivalent high specialist qualification in your country of specilaist training
The Department
The Division of Women, Youth and Children at Canberra (WYC) provides a broad range of primary, secondary and tertiary healthcare services. Service provision is based on a family-centred, interdisciplinary approach to care, in partnership with consumers and other service providers.
These services include support, education and information; counselling, assessment and screening; early identification and referral; and the delivery of public health programs.
The Enhanced Health Services (EHS) includes the Early Family Support Service (EFSS), Enhanced Child Health Service (ECHS), Community Paediatrics and Women’s Health Service (WHS).
The team provides medical services for children and adolescents requiring assessment, treatment or review relating to suspected or established developmental delay or disability, and behavioural or emotional disturbance
Specialist medical services for children and young people are provided through the community paediatric outpatient services. The team work with an understanding of the impact of Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) on the physical, emotional, and social development of children and young people and collaborates with others across the Enhanced Health Services to provide holistic care.
The Location Canberra- Australia’s Capital city and set in a state all of its’ own, ACT is home to over 345,000 residents and the Australian Parliament. It is a unique city as it was purpose-built as a compromise capital between the two rival cities Melbourne and Sydney.
Canberra is a thriving city with a low unemployment rate and only a couple hour's drive away from Sydney. It is also close to some of the East Coast’s most beautiful coastline and some of Australia’s ski fields. Other leisure pursuits include wineries with cellar doors that welcome visitors to taste their locally grown produce.
This clean safe city has the lowest unemployment rates in Australia and also the highest levels of pay.
