SalaryAn exciting opportunity is currently available for a General Medicine Consultant to join a leading hospital in the Mackay Region and Health Service within beautiful Queensland. They can accommodate any sub-specialty interest within Medicine.
The Staff Specialist will be part of a team comprising of physicians with different subspecialties (including endocrinology, respiratory, infectious disease, oncology, neurology, nephrology, acute medicine etc) working in close partnership with cardiology (who provide 24/7 Primary PCI service), emergency medicine (FACEM lead) and intensive care (CICM led).
(If Dual trained) - The dual-trained Staff Specialist role will be comprised of 0.5FTE General Medicine and 0.5FTE sub-specialty duties on an alternating fortnightly basis.
The General Medicine role will include rotating through the Acute Assessment Unit and General Medicine Teams as well as participating in the on-call and weekend roster.
The sub-specialty role will involve inpatient consultation, outpatient specialty clinics and relevant procedural lists. Close collaboration with specialty peers from other centres will be supported and encouraged.

To reflect the growing demand for health care in the region, the Mackay Base Hospital has been redeveloped, at a cost of $408 million with a current bed capacity of 236 beds. The redeveloped hospital is a digital hospital, equipped with leading-edge technology. It is the first regional hospital in Queensland to have a complete integrated electronic medical record.
Requirements
Applicants should be registered (or eligible for registration) as a specialist with the Medical Board of Australia and be a Fellow of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Physicians (RACP) or equivalent as an overseas trained specialist who has completed their training in either the UK, Ireland, Canada, USA or New Zealand.
