Whittlesea Early Parenting Centre - Consultant Psychiatrist 

ABOUT THE ROLE:

Whittlesea Early Parenting Centre opened in November 2023 and we are seeking an enthusiastic Perinatal Psychiatrist to join the brand-new team at Whittlesea Early Parenting Centre to support the mental health of families attending our service. The Psychiatrist will provide assessments for referred families attending Whittlesea Early Parenting Centre's programs

It is an opportunity to be part of establishing Mercy Health’s second early parenting centre, and help build and establish the Mental Health services.

• Position based in South Morang
• 6-hour session once a week either Tuesday or Wednesday - permanent part time
• Liaise with Whittlesea Early Parenting Centres psychologist and clinical staff
• Promote excellence in clinical practice and family centred care
• Provide monthly clinical supervision for staff
• Provide Education/In-services for Clinical staff

ABOUT YOU

• Registration as a Medical Practitioner with Australian Health Practitioner regulation Agency (AHPRA)
• Fellowship with the Royal Australia & New Zealand College of Psychiatrists (FRANZCP) 
• Ability to engage with complex families with young children (0 - 4years) who present with a range of biopsychosocial issues
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively with other members of the Whittlesea Early Parenting Centre's team
• As a senior Clinical Psychologist, assess psychological needs of families attending Whittlesea Early Parenting Centre, provide brief interventions, liaise with referral sources and clients to ensure appropriate ongoing care as required

Whittlesea Early Parenting Centre is an early parenting centre located in South Morang that focuses on the needs of vulnerable families and young children. The residential, day and community programs provide child-focused parenting skills to promote safe child development. Services include residential, day stay, educational and group programs for families with children aged 0-4 years.
