About the position
Grand Pacific Health’s Shellharbour Head to Health Satellite Site is a PHN/Commonwealth funded program designed to provide a safe and welcoming entry point for people experiencing distress/crisis, and/or with moderate to high mental health needs.
As a Peer Worker, your own lived experience of life changing mental health challenges, mental health service use, as well as periods of healing and personal recovery will be critical to support people accessing the program with their own lived experience of the same.
Based in Shellharbour, this is a fixed-term, part-time (30 hours per week) opportunity to 30 June 2025. Hours and days are negotiable. Some after hours work may be required (Tuesday) to accommodate extended opening hours to 6:30pm.
We are looking for someone with:
- Certificate IV in Mental Health Peer Work (or commencement or a willingness to work towards qualification within first 6 months of employment).
- Direct lived experience of life changing mental health challenges, mental health service use, as well as periods of healing and personal recovery.
- Commitment to safely and purposely share lived experience to engender hope and support others on their personal recovery journey.
- Thorough understanding of the importance of personal and professional boundaries, ethical behaviour, policies, and procedures
