In this role you will be responsible for providing leadership across Recruitment Services for various employment types, in particular senior appointments, Academic promotions support and other fixed term, continuing and direct appointments.
In the role you will lead a team providing high level advice on end-to-end recruitment, ensuring accuracy, consistency of service delivery and a positive customer experience, as well as being a point of escalation and resolution.
Leading by example to build strong relationships in the Recruitment Services team and across People Services, you will implement tailored strategies to seamlessly source the best academic and professional talent for Deakin whilst proactively progress customer service requests using judgement and escalation as required.
Responsibilities
- Provide expert advice on the assessment and selection of candidates, including pipeline development, shortlisting, conducting interviews and assessments, reference and work rights checks and issuing employment contracts.
- Provide advice on remuneration and employment terms and conditions for new and existing roles as well as communicating with external agencies for sourcing needs.
- Understand the customer context to anticipate needs, tailor services, improve service offering and ensure a high-quality outcome by addressing feedback and setting service standards.
- Interpret needs and offer pragmatic, inclusive and sustainable solutions based on research and in alignment with university context, policies and practices.
- Promote teamwork and provide tailored coaching to enable individuals to deliver high quality solutions and the achievement of goals.
- Analyse problems, weigh up a range of options to identify accessible and inclusive solutions and translate complex issues into clear and understandable goals and targets for Deakin.
- Actively encourage and coach others to question traditional assumptions, promote ideas and review practices and policies and translate them into workplace improvements.
- Establish systems and procedures to guide work and track progress, striving for excellence and continually evaluating progress. Effectively overcoming barriers to achieving outcomes.
- Discuss and understand broad constructs rather than concrete examples and implement solutions, evaluate effectiveness, and adjust actions as required.
- Use accepted theory and practices to develop and deploy continuous improvement actions to ensure implementation of continuous improvement strategies in own work area.

- Postgraduate qualifications or progress towards postgraduate qualifications and extensive relevant experience or Extensive experience and management expertise in the areas of recruitment and selection.
- An equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training.
