The role:
- Develop and maintain specific initiatives tailored to the improvement of Workplace Safety, Health and Wellbeing indicators for our workforce. Programs are to have a strong operational emphasis and to be compliant with current and planned legislative changes and best practice.
- Promote sound human resource practices in the Agency, through the provision of high-level strategic and specialist advice to the Director - Work Health and Safety and other senior managers on a broad range of Workplace Safety, Health and Wellbeing and human resource issues.
- Undertake high level risk assessments and audits and provide support for high level investigations while at the same time educating all levels of management in their responsibilities in undertaking these tasks.
- Negotiate and liaise with relevant parties, including regulatory bodies and unions, in order to assist in the development and maintenance of Workplace Safety, Health and Wellbeing practices and foster a collective approach to enlist support and engender trust regarding Workplace Safety, Health and Wellbeing.
- Manage complex enquiries and prepare high-level correspondence, documentation and reports in a timely manner.

Details of Appointment
Permanent, full time, day worker position working 76 hours per fortnight, commencing as soon as possible.
*notwithstanding hours may be negotiated with the successful applicant
- Applicants should note that, for a period of twelve months from the date of publication, this selection process may be used to fill subsequent or similar full time and part time vacancies.
Location: The primary work location may be located in the Southern or Northern Region
Salary: $104,756 to $118,730 per annum. Our Employer 11% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.
- Salary range is in accordance with Public Sector Unions Wages Agreement 2022
Eligibility:
Applicants should note the following criteria are desirable:
- Completion of or working towards qualifications in Work Health and Safety, Training and Assessment
- Two or more years’ experience in Work Health and Safety, System auditing or a HR related role
- Current Driver’s Licence
The Head of the State Service has determined that the person nominated for this job is to satisfy a pre‑employment check before taking up the appointment, on promotion or transfer. The following checks are to be conducted:
- Conviction checks in the following areas:
- crimes of violence
- sex related offences
- serious drug offences
- crimes involving dishonesty
- Identification check
- Disciplinary action in previous employment check.
