About the role
This position plays a pivotal role in implementing and managing procurement strategies to ensure they are and continue to be high-quality effective contracts with suppliers for Local Governments (councils) of NSW. You will be responsible for ensuring the appropriate and timely administration, consistent documentation, correspondence, invoicing, and performance management of many period contracts, and be involved in regular liaison with new and existing contractors regarding various matters.
Be a part of the rapidly changing energy space to provide alternative and renewable energy solutions for NSW councils.
The position has the remit to implement and manage a series of new solutions that are available through LGP, keeping us as the preferred choice of buying arrangements for NSW councils. There may be a need to lead individuals and various teams while implementing and managing these contract strategies.
Key Accountabilities
- Implement and manage a new Category Strategy for Energy.
- Establish and grow supplier and stakeholder relationships to support agreed strategic goals and targets.
- Manage commercial and contractual risks to mitigate negative impacts on category objectives and targets.
- Organise and Execute Tenders as per approved business case / category strategy including managing tender briefings, inquiries, compliance matters, recommendation reports, issuance and signing of contracts
- Administratively monitor and manage any contract non-compliance issues by approved contractors.
- Ensure all data within key systems (CRM, VendorPanel and LGP website) is accurate with timely data updates.
- Day-to-day processing activities for existing contracts are conducted on a timely basis.
- Ensure LGP’s debtors are followed up to secure payment of contract management fees.
- Coordinate the credit process to LGP suppliers.
- Analysis of contract data to uncover insights.
Key Challenges
Whilst this role requires you to be autonomous in the management and administration of your role, you will also be a team player and keen to contribute towards broader organisational objectives. A particularly challenging aspect of the role is dealing with the realities of up to one hundred and thirty separate local government entities, each having its own needs and wants, and processing large amounts of data accurately on a timely basis for invoicing purposes.
Key Requirements
Essential
- Demonstrated experience in procurement strategy implementation and contract management
- Ability to manage supplier relationships and performance
- Demonstrated high level communication, interpersonal, influencing and negotiation skills with a focus on customer service
- Demonstrated ability to establish work priorities, which reflect urgency, expediency and strategic importance of general tasks whilst maintaining attention to detail.
- Well-developed administrative and analytical skills, with a proven ability to deliver results
- Proficiency in using software applications such as Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook at an intermediate level.
Desirable
- Appropriate qualifications in a relevant discipline (e.g. procurement, contracts, Supply Chain, Commerce or Business) or demonstrated equivalent experience.
- Experience in Team management
- Driving category and supplier performance management objectives
- Experience in Contract negotiations
- Familiarity with key Business Intelligence and Report delivery tools (eg: PowerBI)
