The Opportunity
The CA implements and maintains effective management of supplier contracts to maximise operational and financial performance. Duties include providing commercial support and advice to the Technical Works Team to minimize risk, and achieve desirable financial project outcomes. The CA prepares and issues tender packages of work and provides recommendations to management on tender packages. The CA negotiates with suppliers on terms and conditions to maintain CBS standards and reduce the Total Cost of Procurement. The CA undertakes selected periodic reviews of major suppliers, vendors and subcontractors engaged in support of the project, and actively works to rectify unfavourable contract arrangements. The CA maintains a system to monitor contracts to ensure that they are negotiated in a timely manner.
Main duties and responsibilities
- Promote good relations and strong relationships with clients and others within the Companies business community.
- Develop contract proposals to support organizational goals.
- Review contract estimates, including proposed materials, production costs, etc and determine whether they seem reasonable and accurate.
- Ensure that all records are accurate and up to date.
- Write contract letters and other communications and notices.
- Negotiate and approve contract terms while ensuring that projects remain within the established budget, program and other critical project objectives.
- Attend meetings to assess progress on projects which are in motion and take detailed notes to share with stakeholders.
- Create regular status reports regarding progress on projects.
- Analyse contracts to ensure they comply with state and federal laws and regulations.
- Review, manage and control project budgets to ensure economic efficiency in the best interests of the project and the business.
- Have a detailed understanding and experience in the construction process, the building approval process and requirements, code and construction manual requirements, critical inspection points, permit requirements and WHS requirements.
- Ensure all relevant licensing requirements, permits, forms, certificates, certification, approvals, design details, safety standards and best practices are identified and integrated in tender submissions.
- Use, update and apply all company work systems as directed.
Requirements
- Tertiary qualifications in building, quantity surveying, construction management other relevant discipline.
- Experience in contract administration practices and solid experience in a similar role.
- Current valid driving licence
