About This Opportunity 

As the Contracts Manager for UQCoRE you will be an integral part of the Research Commercial Management Unit, situated within the Research Office. You will be responsible for negotiating and administering research consultancy contracts to ensure that risks are adequately managed while maximising value for the University and the external client.

The position is expected to build and maintain successful client relationships within UQ and industry and to assist the UQCoRE team in providing efficient services for research consultancy projects across UQ.

This includes developing and sustaining effective working relationships with key stakeholders; delivering high-quality research consultancy administration and support services; and managing adherence to internal and external research legislative and governance requirements.

Key responsibilities will include: 

  • Respond to enquiries, prepare quotes, tenders, proposals, and associated contractual documentation; negotiate with external clients and advise senior management on commercial terms and risks, with support from senior colleagues.
  • Triage commercial terms for legal and administrative review in accordance with UQ policies, and manage subcontracting relationships relating to UQCoRE projects.
  • Work collaboratively with academic and professional staff to improve service delivery for researchers and industry partners, and build and sustain relationships with internal stakeholders and an extensive network of university staff and external partners.
  • Maintain an accurate database of information, manage existing clients and researchers for repeat business, and identify appropriate expertise to meet client requirements.
  • Work with UniQuest Directors on commercialisation and IP management issues, assist with seminars and workshops, and provide input on systems and processes.

This is a full-time, continuing position at HEW Level 7.

The full-time equivalent base salary will be in the range $96,649- $122,176 plus super of 17%. The total FTE package will be in the range $113,080 - $123,136 per annum. As these roles are covered by an Enterprise Agreement, you will also receive regular remuneration increases in line with the Enterprise Agreement.

The following flexible employment options may be available for this role: hybrid work arrangement (up to two working from home per week), variable start and finish times, compressed hours, purchased leave, and flex-time.

About You  
  • Undergraduate qualifications or progress towards tertiary qualifications with at least 4 years relevant experience (preferably in the tertiary education or research sectors); or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training

  • Demonstrated experience in contracts administration including commercial term negotiations.

  • Proficiency in commonly used software programs (MS Office etc.).
  • Excellent interpersonal skills (including written and verbal communication), with experience in liaising with internal and external stakeholders, including the ability to provide advice and negotiate to achieve desired outcomes.
  • Ability to prioritise own workload, work independently and meet deadlines and work to tight deadlines.
  • Ability to use judgment, act independently and take initiative with minimal direction, yet work effectively as part of a professional team.
  • Knowledge of, or ability to acquire knowledge of University processes and administrative systems.
