About the role
Mater’s Procurement and Supply Chain Operations has an exciting, 6-month contact position for a Contracts Specialist – Engineering Services & Maintenance. This position is based in our newly purpose-built offices in Newstead.
The Contract Specialist will be responsible for ensuring effective outcomes are delivered and achieved from Mater’s contractors for all high-risk high value engineering services and maintenance contracts across the State.
You will also be pivotal in developing a contract management strategy for Engineering and Services & Maintenance Contracts and lead the day-to-day operational management of contracts/agreements in conjunction with the local Engineering Services Teams across the State.
Salary commensurate with experience, plus superannuation and access to not-for-profit salary packaging up to $15,900 per annum.
What you’ll be doing
As a subject matter expert in contract management, your key responsibilities will include (but not limited to):
Prepare, in conjunction with relevant stakeholders, the tender specifications and supporting contractual documentation to deliver best value outcomes for Engineering Services
Ensure standard procurement processes are adhered to, whilst also identifying any opportunities to improve those processes
Develop and implement contracts that incorporate performance incentives, desired procurement outcomes to payments and that enable effective contract performance management
Manage changes over the life of the contract/agreement in conjunction with the Indirects Category Team
Monitor and analyse supplier and contract/agreement performance to ensure the goods and services are provided in line with the agreed specification and conditions
Ensuring contractor compliance remains up to date and maintained in the Contract Management System
Maintain working relationships with relevant key suppliers
Collaborate with stakeholders in dispute resolution and complaint management and escalate matters as required
Manage cohesive contingency planning for all key suppliers
Support research into current and emerging markets/suppliers for a wide range of commodity and service types relevant to the category
Engage, consult, and negotiate with all levels of staff, suppliers, and customers
Engage and influence negotiations with vendors and customers to deliver positive, sustainable relationships through a business partnering approach
Manage planning, coordination and administration of stakeholder and vendor meetings
About you
As the successful applicant, you will have Demonstrated experience in managing complex Indirect Service contracts, preferably with demonstrated Engineering contract experience, in a large diverse organisation along with the ability to develop and implement contract strategies. You will also possess:
Relevant procurement or business qualification or certification
Demonstrated experience in managing complex engineering contracts in a large diverse organisation
Demonstrated experience with transitioning out and implementing new contracts.
Demonstrated experience with monitoring performance of contract and managing KPIs with supplier and hold review meetings as per contract or as required
Demonstrated experience with co-ordinating supplier reviews and documenting meetings with formal minutes and other documents as required.
Knowledge and experience of e-procurement systems is essential, including the ability to generate reporting information and analyse data.
Significant IT skills for online communication and content creation, including the Microsoft office suite.
Strong customer service skills with the ability to communicate effectively with suppliers, customers and stakeholders to achieve outcomes.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Proven analytical skills including the ability to analyse and interpret information, prepare written reports
