About EDS:

The Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS) provides comprehensive mental health services to children and adolescents from birth to 18 years following a holistic and patient-centred approach.

Our Eating Disorders Services (EDS) provide assessment, consultation and treatment services for young people who present with symptoms of an eating disorder, and their families. We provide inpatient in reach, and outpatient intervention through various models of care including family-based therapy and parent focused Education and support. EDS offers outpatient day programs, and consultation liaison with CAMHS clinics across the state.  Our robust research program is a key component to continuous improvement of our services, together with consumer engagement, and parent focused Education and support.

Our diverse, multi-disciplinary team includes psychology, dietetics, occupational therapy, physiotherapy, nursing, education, medical and psychiatry teams, and liaises with private and public sector youth and adult health providers. Our state-wide service includes support for regionally based patients through provision of telehealth, and our partnership with regional CAMHS and WA Country Health Service (WACHS) clinics.

About the Role:

As Coordinator Education and Training (Eating Disorders) you will be responsible for leading, developing and facilitating specialised professional education, training and consultation at a local and state-wide level.

Within CAMHS you will coordinate internal education to CAMHS staff including orientation for new staff, and facilitate training in relevant models to ensure currency and competency. You will coordinate broader professional development opportunities specific to EDS including family-based therapy, coordinating relevant training opportunities, parent-focused education monthly as part of the EDS model of care, and work with leadership to identify and secure appropriate funding to meet needs of the team/ broader sector.

You will network with key stakeholders across the sector to provide eating disorder specific training and development, including opportunities to liaise with international consultants and speakers regarding sector conferences and events.

Applying a sector-wide approach, you will engage with services and agencies, medical, psychological, and allied health partners internal and external to CAMHS to achieve an integrated strategy in the delivery of interagency training and community education services.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Coordinating training and education internal to the EDS and externally across CAMHS and the broader sector.
  • Work with the EDS leadership team and CAMHS learning and development team to develop the skills and competencies of clinical teams across CAMHS.
  • Undertaking evaluation of the Education and Training programs delivered to ensure they meet optimal outcomes and implement changes as required.

A previous training background is desired but not required.

A tertiary qualification in Occupational Therapy, Psychology or Nursing and eligibility for registration with the relevant Board, or tertiary qualifications in Social Work and eligibility for full membership of the Australian Association of Social workers, or tertiary qualifications in Dietetics and eligible for full membership of the Dietitian's Association of Australia as an Accredited Practising Dietitian (APD) is required.

About our CAMHS Directorates

  • Community CAMHS– Community CAMHS offers mental health assessment and multidisciplinary intervention for children and young people up to the age of 18 years.

  • Specialist Services and Day Programs– The Specialist Services and Day Programs consists of Complex Attention and Hyperactivity Disorder Service, Multisystemic Therapy, Pathways and Touchstone. These programs support children and young people who have complex mental health needs.

  • Acute CAMHS– Acute CAMHS, based at Perth Children’s Hospital has a mental health inpatient unit (Ward 5A), Paediatric Consultation Liaison, Eating Disorder Service and Gender Diversity Service.
