Appointment Pool

Swimming and Water Safety is seeking to establish a pool of Program Coordinators - Swimming for appointments to permanent and fixed term, full-time and part-time vacancies which may arise during 2024 and up to the end of April 2026. Appointments can be made from the pool at any time for commencements within 2024, up to the end of April 2026.

Swimming and Water Safety is responsible for the development, implementation and delivery of the Interm and VacSwim swimming programs that promote vital swimming and water safety skills for children aged 5 – 17.

As a Program Coordinator – Swimming, you will be responsible for the provision of human resources, coordination, development, and management of programs at venues across the State to ensure the successful delivery of the Department of Education swimming and water safety education programs. The role requires a high level of stakeholder engagement and experience working with databases and Microsoft office application.

Suitable applicants will work closely with other Program Coordinators – Swimming and ideally possess the ability to review and refine program related policies and procedures to enhance operational effectiveness and client experience.

2. Demonstrated well developed knowledge and experience in human resource management, including planning, scheduling, development, performance management and recruitment.
3. Demonstrated well developed written communication skills and the ability to prepare and maintain accurate detailed reports.
5. Demonstrated well developed understanding of and experience working with databases, including Microsoft office applications.

Eligibility and Training Requirements

Employees will be required to:

  • provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy
  • complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement
  • complete the Department’s training in Accountable and Ethical Decision-Making within six months of appointment and every three years thereafter.
  • complete the Department’s Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultural awareness online course within 3 months of commencement
  • complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy
  • consent to a Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check and obtain a current Screening Clearance Number issued by the Department of Education’s Screening Unit prior to commencement of employment
  • obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check if required

The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
