About the roleYou will play a vital role in ensuring that the council’s facilities are well-maintained, safe, and functional, providing a positive experience for the City’s customer and community – it’s residents and visitors.
Work type: Permanent full timeClassification: Band 8 ($115,035 - $127,911 pa plus super)
Key responsibilities include:
Develop and implement a comprehensive maintenance plan for council-owned facilities, including buildings, parks, recreation centres, community halls, and other public amenities.
Work closely with the Strategic Asset Management team to ensure that asset records are up to date and maintenance efforts are aligned to strategic priorities.
Collaborate with teams in the City Infrastructure directorate to identify opportunities to integrate Facilities Maintenance functions across various asset maintenance functions, to ensure consistent practices, streamline processes, share resources, and optimise maintenance activities across all council-owned assets.
Coordinate and undertake maintenance analysis, including responding to requests, determining responsibility for works, estimating costs and specifying the work required.
Oversee all aspects of facility maintenance, including scheduling, inspections, repairs, and preventative maintenance activities and after-hours response to ensure the timely completion of tasks and compliance with relevant regulations and standards.
About youTo be successful in this role, you will have a degree of diploma in facilities management, building or construction management, engineering or related discipline and relevant experience. Alternatively, a trade-based qualification with the required level of experience and skills will be considered.
Qualifications:
Certificate IV or Diploma in OH&S
Current Victorian Drivers Licence
Working with Children Check (Employee)
Essential Experience:
Demonstrated experience in Facilities Maintenance or asset management, preferably in a local government or similar complex environment.
Demonstrated experience in the use of judgement to enable quality decision making within complex multidisciplinary projects.
Demonstrated ability to build partnerships with a range of stakeholders (both external and internal including Councillors) to achieve optimal outcomes.
Strong leadership skills with a demonstrated record of managing diverse Facilities Maintenance teams.
Demonstrated high level of interpersonal, communications, consultation and negotiations skills.
Demonstrated experience in budget management and forecasting.
