Job Description
City of Stonnington towards a zero waste and circular economy future.
As a senior trailblazer in your field you will drive the design, implementation and evaluation of policies, strategies, programs and projects to support Council’s zero waste and circular economy strategic objectives, including implementing Council’s new zero waste and circular economy Strategy and Recycling Victoria reforms.
You will drive the integration of zero waste and circular economy principles throughout Council operations, services, facilities, planning and infrastructure, including improving sustainable procurement practices and lifecycle planning to drive uptake of recycled content in Council building and infrastructure projects.
You will also coordinate Council’s approach to community education and behaviour change around waste management and a circular economy as well as identify opportunities to collaborate with key stakeholders, including other councils, to develop and deliver projects to avoid waste, increase reuse, maximise resource recovery and facilitate a circular economy.
This is a temporary full time position for 12 months (parental leave backfill) with an annual salary range of $121,828 - $135,627 per annum + 11% superannuation and a monthly day off arrangement.
We come together at least 3 days a week so we can collaborate in our vibrant office culture. When on-site you will enjoy modern and sustainable facilities and office spaces. You are based within our bright, modern and sustainable Tooronga Depot office which is located next to Tooronga Train station and walking distance to Tooronga Village Shopping Centre.
Desired Skills and Experience
You will be an ambassador within the environment and sustainability space with experience leading waste and circular economy transformation within local government or large organisational context.
Ideally you have have experience in leading and motivating a multi-disciplinary team to improve services or deliver complex projects involving multiple stakeholders and interests.
You will also have:
Significant experience leading waste and circular economy transformation within local government or large organisational context.
Experience in leading and motivating a multi-disciplinary team to improve services or deliver complex projects involving multiple stakeholders and interests, including strong budget management skills.
Demonstrated understanding of the challenges and opportunities to providing waste services in a local government context now and into the future.
Excellent interpersonal skills with a proven ability to build collaborative and productive relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including an ability to write concise reports and present information professionally to a variety of audiences.
