The Opportunity
Join an award winning, motivated Sustainability and Waste Minimisation unit delivering innovative waste and recycling services and contributing to the achievement of circular economy outcomes in our region.
The Waste Planning and Compliance Coordinator will play a pivotal role in the reform of waste and recycling services in response to Victorian Government's Recycling Victoria Policy and the achievement of Council's strategic direction. You'll take on:
- Leading continuous improvement in waste and recycling services by identifying opportunities to reduce contamination, increase recycling and reuse, diverting waste from landfill and enabling circular economy outcomes.
- Assisting in the forward planning of landfill cell construction, rehabilitation projects and the establishment of new recycling and organics processing infrastructure.
- Leading and supporting a small team responsible for waste education programs and compliance activities.
- Budgets and expenditure, identifying opportunities for cost savings through innovation.
Things You're Proud Of (Key Selection Criteria):
- Relevant tertiary qualification and/or extensive relevant workplace experience.
- Ability to investigate, prepare strategies, policies and reports (using evidence-based decision making) on waste management and resource recovery and make recommendations to management and Council.
- Excellent interpersonal skills including the ability to communicate effectively with a wide range of people and organisations.
- Ability to confidently liaise internally to build relationships, achieve cooperation, work inclusively, gain and share knowledge and experience and discuss and resolve issues.
- Experience in compliance and/or reporting in line with legislation.
- Demonstrated experience in leading a team and contractors to achieve high performance outcomes.
