Hutchison Ports Australia (HPA), part of Hutchison Port Holdings, the world's leading port investor, developer, and operator with 40 years of industry experience, is looking for a Corporate Accountant to join our team. Reporting to the Finance Manager, you will be an integral part of the Finance team based on-site in our Sydney Port Botany Headquarters and will be responsible for supporting and ensuring accuracy and integrity of financial data whilst meeting all specified local and HPH reporting deadlines.

The key responsibilities include:  Ensuring all financial reporting responsibilities are completed as per the finance timetable. Month end process is completed in an accurate manner and according to specified timeframes and head office requirements. Relationships are built and maintained with key stakeholders. Audit process is managed effectively in conjunction with the Finance Manager.

The key duties include: 

  • Provide ongoing support to the Finance Manager in order to meet and comply with the various reporting requirements of the HPH Group
  • Assist with monthly payroll tax calculation and submission, assist with monthly payroll reconciliation for audit purpose. 
  • Assist with monthly GST and annual FBT lodgement. 
  • Perform month end preparation, including update consolidated financial statements by using excel spreadsheet. 
  • Perform month end trail balance translation to foreign currency, with interface the foreign currency accounts to other systems. 
  • Assist with prepare quarterly forecasting and budgeting presentation packs.
  • Assist with capital expenditure approval process and capital expenditure budgeting submission. 
  • Ad hoc analysis of BU financial data for CFO and local management team
  • Participate in the preparation of Financial Statements for external auditor review and act as a point of contact in liaison with auditors
  • Liaising with the wider management team, and key internal and external stakeholders both at a local and Hong Kong head office level

To thrive in this role, the following knowledge, skills, and experience will be necessary:

  • CA / CPA Qualified or Part Qualified
  • Prior experience in a similar wide ranging, business partnering role with exposure to detailed transaction level accounting through to management reporting
  • Has worked with a large ERP system
  • Competent using Microsoft Office with excellent Excel and PowerPoint skills 
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Hard working and diligent with a high level of attention to detail
  • Ability to build relationships both within the finance team as well as the wider business and external stakeholders with the purpose of business partnering with relevant parties
  • Good team player with a proactive, enquiring, outgoing character

The following would be desirable:

  • Previous exposure to specifically using Oracle ERP
  • Possess experience in, or an interest in, Ports or Logistics
