This role is based in our Head Office, St Leonards, NSW. The office is within walking distance from the train station. There are plenty of options for lunch and catching up with colleagues or friends after work. If you are keen on fitness there are multiple gyms and a sports field on our doorstep.
What you'll contribute to
The Corporate Counsel is a key position reporting to the Senior Corporate Counsel and providing support to the legal team in a wide variety of legal and compliance services to all business areas within Toyota Finance Australia Limited (TFA).
A high degree of accuracy, attention to detail, technical knowledge, team management and the ability to proactively identify problem and resolve issues coupled with the ability to communicate to both internal and external stakeholders are keys to the success of this role.
How you'll make an impact
- Provide advice on legal and regulatory issues and assisting in provision of advice on new or more complex legal and regulatory issues in consultation with Legal and Compliance Team.
- Review and negotiate contracts drafted by parties dealing with TFA.
- Review TFA dealer facility documentation and other related agreements to be entered into by TFA.
- Review correspondence, advertising and other material to ensure TFA minimises and mitigates its exposure to legal liabilities or claims.
- Negotiating and drafting changes to standard form contracts used by TFA.
- Review and assess impact of new or amended legislation on TFA operations and provide advice and support to the business.
- Subject matter expert on key legislation including NCCPA, Corporations Act, ASIC Act, AML & CTF, Privacy, PPSA.
- Review and assist in the resolution of customer complaints and disputes.
- Assist in the management of litigation including responding to subpoenas and statutory notices.
- Assist in the development and delivery of training programmes for non-legal staff on relevant legal issues.
- Identify, escalate and seek guidance on significant risks.
- University Commerce/Economics/Arts & Law degrees
- 2 + years post-admission experience
- Financial Services industry exposure
- Strong academic records
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to manage stakeholders at all levels, both internally and externally
