On 14 March 2023 the Federal Court of Australia handed down the determination of Native Title for the Narungga People. This is the formal recognition by the Court that the land and seas on Yorke Peninsula always was, and always will be, Narungga land. Narungga Nation Aboriginal Corporation (NNAC) is the Peak Body representing Narungga Traditional Owners and Native Title Claimants. The Corporation is member – based focusing on developing strong and healthy families, growing Aboriginal culture and maintaining connection to country for future generations; they ensure their people have both a strong voice and access to opportunities.

Tasks & responsibilities

• Drive and oversee with the CEO nation-building initiatives to strengthen the cultural and community identity of the Narungga Nation.
• Working collaboratively with the CEO to manage information flows including by newsletters to members and the establishment and maintenance of an appropriate website.
• Oversee the management of resources, including staff, finances, physical assets, and intellectual property, in alignment with the NNAC Board's decisions.
• Implement the strategic direction set by the NNAC Board, aligning operations with overarching organisational
• Provide leadership in governance matters, ensuring compliance with relevant agreements, policies, and government regulations
• Monitor with the CEO the Financial performance, identify areas for improvement, and report to the Board of Directors
• Develop and manage and report to the annual budget with the CEO to ensuring financial sustainability and responsible resource allocation.
• Assess and report organisational risks, implementing strategies to mitigate potential challenges
• Organise financial reporting and auditing requirements pursuant to relevant and Government regulations.

Qualifications & experience

• Tertiary qualifications in a relevant area such as Indigenous studies, natural and cultural resource management, law, policy and corporate governance, business development and community development, or equivalent experience.
• Experience and specialisation in one or more of the above areas within the Indigenous sector.
• Experience in developing and implementing corporate and community plans and strategies to achieve social, cultural, environmental and economic outcomes.
• Experience in establishing networks, brokering solutions and building relationships.
• Effective administrative and project management skills to achieve goals and work independently and with others
• Good written and oral communication skills including in cross-cultural and cross-sector environments.
• Ability to lead and facilitate meetings, workshops and group discussions including in business and/or community planning context.
