ABOUT US
Tasmanian Irrigation Pty Ltd (TI) is the State-owned Company responsible for operating and developing irrigation schemes funded through public / private partnerships.
Since Tasmanian Irrigation was established in 2008, the Company has taken over management of a range of inherited assets, including dams, irrigation schemes and river works, constructed 15 new irrigation projects, and advanced planning on a further six projects.
Tasmanian Irrigation now oversees 25,000 individual infrastructure assets with a replacement value of approximately $500 million across 18 operational schemes and has the capacity to deliver more than 133,000 megalitres of irrigation water each year.
By 2030, Tasmanian Irrigation expects to manage a portfolio of irrigation infrastructure valued at more than $900 million, capable of delivering 236,000 megalitres of water via 1,786km of pipeline, 49 pump stations, 15 dams and three power stations.
All schemes developed and operated by Tasmanian Irrigation are economically viable, environmentally sustainable, have strong community endorsement, are designed to last at least 100 years and deliver water at an average reliability of more than 95 per cent per annum.
ABOUT THE ROLE
Reporting to the General Manager Commercial/Chief Financial Officer, this multi-faceted position will play a vital role in Tasmanian Irrigation’s successful operations and future development.
Providing high level analysis, reporting and strategic business improvement advice to the leadership team, you will utilise your commercial acumen and analytical skills to identify business and process improvement opportunities along with customer account management.
As well as managing the commercial team, you will be responsible for providing exceptionally high levels of engagement with customers and stakeholders across the irrigation sector. Additionally, you will look after vehicle fleet management, pricing policies, customer contract management, SharePoint and Power BI administration, CAPEX business case development and strategic planning.
WHAT YOU’LL NEED TO SUCCEED
Key to this role will be an individual’s ability to:
- Problem solve with a pro-active nature
- Be a natural leader with the ability to influence stakeholders throughout the organisation and the wider irrigation sector
- Communicate effectively with a range of internal and external stakeholders
- Confidently prepare and present detailed business information to a range of audiences
To be considered for this role you will have strong experience in a commercial leadership role within the utilities or similar sector.
The successful candidate ideally will:
- Hold a degree and post-graduate qualification in Business or Finance
- Bring with you high level analysis, modelling, reporting and strategic skills
- Possess exceptional interpersonal and relationship development skills
- Be comfortable with Power BI, SharePoint and other reporting software.
- Be aligned to TI’s people positive culture.
As the Commercial Services Manager the primary objective of this role is to support Tasmanian Irrigation by providing information, guidance and systems to ensure governance and business improvement opportunities for the organisation.
