Position Description:

The Corruption Prevention Officer (Policy & International) will support the Assistant Director Corruption Prevention (Policy & International) to develop and deliver corruption prevention policy advice in the context of ACLEI’s integrity work, ACLEI’s input to cross-agency consultation and ACLEI’s contribution to international anti-corruption fora. This role will contribute to policy positions on a range of integrity and anti-corruption issues, particularly in the context of ACLEI’s transition to the National Anti-Corruption Commission (NACC).

In the role, you will work within a team to deliver high quality work to tight deadlines. You will have strong written skills, excellent attention to detail and an ability to manage competing priorities and work discretely and consultatively within a small agency environment. This position involves some interstate travel, and some public speaking.

Position Duties:

The successful candidate will work under limited direction of the Assistant Director Media and Communications.

Key activities of this position include:

  • Contribute to ACLEI’s corruption prevention outputs. Activities may include engagement with agency representatives through education and training; event co-ordination; assistance with writing speeches, presentations and submissions and production of high-quality, engaging visual and audio-visual products.
  • Develop and deliver internal and external communication strategies.
  • Draft media releases, monitor media and prepare responses to media inquiries.
  • Develop material for the ACLEI website, ACLEI Intranet, social media and for use at anti-corruption events.
  • Manage website and intranet content, including ensuring material is regularly reviewed and continually improved based on user needs.
  • Provide other operational and administrative support as required.

ACLEI is a small agency. In addition to these activities, from time to time you may be asked to undertake tasks that are outside your usual span of duties but that are within the range of your capabilities.

Position eligibility requirements:

Employment with ACLEI is subject to the following conditions:

  • Citizenship – applicants must be an Australian Citizen.
  • Security Clearance – this is a Designated Security Assessment Position (DSAP). The occupant of this position must obtain and retain an AGSVA security clearance to the specified level.
  • Suitability assessment - ACLEI must be satisfied that successful applicants are of suitable character. They must undergo a rigorous pre-employment suitability screening process that can be intrusive in nature including (but is not limited to) detailed background, character, employment, police and financial checks.

– In addition, successful applicants for this role must obtain and maintain access to Australian Federal Police Systems, by meeting the AFP’s character guidelines. These are available for review on the AFP website

  • Probation - A probation period will apply to any new ongoing engagement to the Australian Public Service.

ACLEI provides a service allowance of $1,774 per annum (pro-rata for part-time) to non-SES employees which acknowledges the special requirements of working in ACLEI. This includes the need for high-level personal security assessments, the intrusion associated with notifying private financial and social interests and the necessity to engage in practices to prevent targeting by unlawful elements.
